Publishing Traps

The split sheet we all signed was never filed

Four of us wrote it. We agreed the splits at the end of the session, wrote them on the studio's printed sheet, photographed it, and everyone had a copy. Two years later the registration showed a different set of numbers, filed by the producer's publisher.

The photograph of a signed sheet is not, apparently, a fast route to fixing a registration. It took nineteen months and a lawyer to recover fifteen percent of a song I wrote most of.
