A record,
not a campaign

The Record is a searchable collection of reviewed, first-person stories. Each published story carries the metadata its contributor chose to give — category, role, country, year — so the same experience appearing in different places and different decades becomes possible to see.

Every story also carries a reference like AA-000027. That number identifies the submission inside our system so it can be found, cited, corrected or withdrawn. It is not a verification stamp, and it does not mean anything has been proven.

Anyone who works in music. Artists and songwriters, producers and engineers, DJs, managers, touring crew, promoters, creators, label and publishing staff, executives, freelancers — the people who make records and the people who make the records happen. Some of the most useful accounts we hold come from inside the offices, not from the stage.

Artists Against is not a court, not law enforcement, not an investigative newsroom, and not a legal authority. We do not independently establish whether every account submitted to us is true, and publication is not a finding that anyone did anything wrong.

Stories that identify individuals or organisations may need additional review. Identifying information may be removed before publication. Some submissions are not published at all — usually because publishing them would put the person who wrote them at risk.

An artist warns another artist about who not to sign with. A producer tells a producer what a deal actually paid. A songwriter discovers that someone else had exactly the same argument about splits. Someone who has toured for fifteen years tells a person on their first run what they wish they had known.

All of that knowledge exists already. It just never leaves the van, the session, or the group chat — which means it protects the people who happen to be there, and nobody else. The Record gives it somewhere to live.

Not every bad experience means somebody broke the law. Not every disagreement is misconduct. The value is in letting people describe what happened and letting the themes that keep recurring become visible over time.

Artists Against is currently operated by its founding team as an independent platform, focused on building and moderating The Record. As the project develops, information about its organisation, governance and funding will be published here.
