Blacklisting

Nobody tells you that you have been blacklisted

I managed three acts on a regional circuit. I told a promoter, on email, that he could not keep settling shows in cash and calling it a marketing deduction. I copied nobody. I was polite.

Within a season my acts were not being offered support slots at two venues, then four. Nobody ever said the word. Everybody was extremely friendly at conferences. That is how it works: there is no letter, no ban, no meeting. There is only an absence, and you cannot appeal an absence.
